The Bred to Event Classic, hosted by Loch Moy Farm, in combination with Maryland International Equestrian Foundation, is a competition dedicated to the breeding of event-bred horses. The series is based on the previous USEA Future Event Horse series, which held its championship at Loch Moy Farm for 10 years. Classes are divided by age from yearlings through five-year-olds.
Building on last year's successful edition of the Bred to Event Classic, and in an effort to accommodate as many potential horses as possible, we have moved the date of the second qualifier and the finals to later in the fall. We hope these date changes resolve as many conflicts as possible with the existing calendar.
The competition format is much the same as in previous years with one change for 2026. At the Bred to Event Finals, there will be a gallop phase at the end of the cross-country section for 4- and 5 Year Old classes only. This phase will be at the Championships in October only, not the Qualifiers. There will be a single steeplechase fence for the 4 Year Olds and two steeplechase fences for the 5 Year Olds during the riding phase at the Championships.
Important Competition Notes
-
Due to the time constraints of required performances, we have been limited to 15 entrants in each division. A waitlist will be open for all classes. If certain divisions are not filled, there may be potential to take more horses in other divisions.
-
Your entry fee includes a professional team of handlers in the jump chute. You do not need to bring your own handler. Yearlings and two-year-olds will not receive a handler as they do not compete in the jump chute.
-
Owner can choose to hand walk the horse in the chute. However, there is a jog strip right out front of the chute itself. It is regulation size (16' X 130' trot area) with footing.
-
Jump chute size is 156' X 90'
-
3 Year Old horses will also have access to the jump chute.
-
At least two judges will be present at each show.
-
Ribbon for 1st-10th place in both the Qualifier and the Championships
-
Additional special awards at the Championship show
