Welcome to the online entry system for the 2026 Sparkles and Spurs Dressage Shows!

Thank You for being part of our Shows!!

 

The Sparkles and Spurs Show is two shows in one: Equine Canada Gold Level Show and an Alberta Equestrian Federation Wild Rose Provincial Circuit Show. Each show has different membership, licensing, and coaching status requirements as well as different rules. Please be sure you know the requirements and rules for the appropriate show and classes you are entering. 

 

SETTING UP COMPETE EASY RIDER AND HORSE PROFILES

Please be sure to create a Compete Easy Rider Profile before entering this show.

Be sure Your Rider Profile includes:

  • Your Membership (Association) Numbers 
    • EC# - Equine Canada Sport License Number - only required for Gold Show Classes
    • Rider PSO# - Provincial Sport Organization # (Alberta Equestrian Federation AEF, Sask Horse Federation SHF, Horse Council of BC HCBC) - required for Wild Rose Classes
  • Your Rider Status - required to ensure you are placed according to your Status (Adult Amature, Open, Jr)
  • Coach and Coach's Sport License Number - required to confirm your coach is properly certified for the level coaching

 

Please add any Horses you will be entering in the Show to your Profile and include:

  • Horse's Name as it appears on your Proof of Vaccination 
  • Sex
  • Person Resonsible Name - required for horses entering either the EC Gold or the AEF Wild Rose Classes
  • Person Responsible EC# - Equine Canada Sport License Number - required for horses entering EC Gold Classes (Note: Parentes of junior riders who are the Person Responsible do not need to be EC Members)
  • Person Responsible AEF# - Alberta Equestrian (or Equivalent) Membership Number - required for horses entering AEF Wild Rose Classes
  • Person Resonsible Email Address - required for horses entering EC Gold Classes and AEF Wild Rose Classes
  • Association Numbers
    • EC Passport # - EC Horse Recording Number - required for horses entering EC Gold Classes
  • Vaccination 
    • Date of Last Vaccination for Equine Influenza & Equine Herpes - immediately verifies vaccination during the entry process

ALBERTA DRESSAGE ASSOCIATION (ADA) MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

Riders Entering Either EC Gold or AEF Wild Rose Classes must have a current Alberta Dressage Association (ADA) Membership or pay the Non-ADA Member Surcharge with their entry. If you do not have a current ADA Membership, please be sure to select the ADA Surcharge in the Optional Fees during the entry process. 

 

ALBERTA EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION NUMBER REQUIRED

(PTSO# - PROVINCIAL SPORT ORGANIZATION NUMBER)

Riders Entering Either EC Gold or AEF Wild Rose Classes must have a current Alberta Equestrian Federation (AEF) or equivalent Provincial Horse Council Membership.

 

EC GOLD SHOW ENTRIES

The following information is required for entering Gold Classes. Please have this information ready to be submitted during the entry process:

  • EC # - Equine Canada Sport License Number
  • Horse Recording (Passport) #
  • Person Resposible
  • Person Responsible EC # - Person Responsible's Equine Canada Sport License Number (Note: Parentes of junior riders who are the Person Responsible do not need to be EC Members)
  • Owner & Owner EC # - Owner's Equine Canada Sport License Number
  • Coach & Coach EC# (If Coached) - Coach's Equine Canada Sport License Number

 

AEF WILD ROSE SHOW ENTRIES

The following information is required for entering Wild Rose Classes. Please have this information ready to be submitted during the entry process:

  • PSO # - Provincial Sport Organization/Horse Council Membership Number (AEF, HCBC, SHF)
  • Person Resposible
  • Person Responsible AEF # - Person Responsible's Provincial Sport Organzation Number
  • Owner & Owner AEF # - Owner's Provincial Sport Organization Membership Number
  • Coach & Coach AEF # (If Coached) - Coach's Provincial Sport Organization Membership Number

 

PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE 

The Person(s) responsible (PR) for a horse must be an adult who has, or shares responsibility for the care, training, custody, and performance of the horse and who has official responsibility for that horse under EC Rules. The PR is liable under the penalty provisions of the applicable EC Rules for any rule violations.

 

COACHING STATUS

Gold Show

  1. When registering for the EC Gold Show, athletes must indicate the name of their coach on the entry form or specify that they are self-coached. Coaches from other countries, must be in good-standing with their home federation and must declare/have proof of insurance. See Rules of Equestrian Canada, Section A, General Regulations, Article 102, Safe Sport Environments. (A602.10)

  2. COACH STATUS REQUIREMENTS: All coaches at EC-sanctioned events require a EC Licence Coach or a Registered Coach License. There are no Temporary Coach Licenses available as of December 31st, 2025.

  3. EC Coaches are required to wear a lanyard indicating they are a coach. The lanyards can be picked up in the show office.

 

AEF Wild Rose Show

AEF Coaching Certification Requirements for provincial circuit competitions:

  1. Coaches with National Coaching Certification (NCCP):
    1. Coaching Certification is required for all individuals coaching athletes at Wild Rose Provincial Circuit sanctioned competitions.
    2. The NCCP certification must be active, and the coach must hold an active Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization membership (e.g.. AEF, HCBC. OE).
  2. Coaches without NCCP Coaching certification may still be eligible to coach if they meet one of the following criteria:
    1. Hold an active EC Licensed Coach Status
    2. Hold an active International Group of Equestrian Qualifications (IGEQ) Passport
    3. Hold a Temporary Coach Badge for the specific competition
  3. AEF Coaches are required to wear a lanyard indicating they are a coach. The lanyards can be picked up in the show office.

  4. When registering for the AEF WR Provincial Circuit Dressage Show, athletes must indicate the name of their coach on the entry form or specify that they are self-coached.

 

PROOF OF VACCINATIONS 

Every Horse attending this show or facility MUST upload a copy of proof of vaccination with your entry for Equine Influenza and Equine Herpes Virus (1&4) vaccinations.  Vaccinations Must be within 6 months of first day of the show. Proof of Vaccination must be on Vet Letterhead paper and must include:

  • Name of the Horse as enterd in the show (Show Name not Barn Name)
  • Date Vaccination Admistered
  • Vaccinations Administered 

 

STABLING REQUIRED 

Every Horse is required to book stabling. You can a book for the entire show or just for the day you will be attending the show. Please read the options in the Camping/Stabling Area carefully to ensure you book the option you need. 

 

EC PARA RIDERS

Para Riders must upload a copy of your para dispensation certificate and/or your classification master list during the entry process. 

 

KWPN MEMBERS

If you wish to be eligible for the KWPN Awards, you must submit your KWPN Registration Papers with your entries.

 

T.I.P. ELIGIBLE THOROUGHBREDS

If you wish to be eligible for the Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.) Awards, you must submit your T.I.P. Number with your entries.

 

CANADIAN WARMBLOOD

If you wish to be eligible for the Canadian Warmblood Awards, you must submit your Canadian Warmblood registration papers with your entries.

 

THE CENTURY RIDE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Awarded to Horse/Rider Teams who have a combined age of 100 years. You must provide the combined age of horse and rider to be eligible for this award.

 

DISCOUNTS

A $20 discount on the office fee will be available to EAADA members. The EAADA discount will only be applied to the office fee for the first horse entered if a competitor is entering more than one horse.

A $20 discount will also be given to all juniors regardless of membership status. The Junior discount will only be applied to first horse entered if a competitor is entering more than one horse.

To have the Edmonton Area Alberta Dressage Assoc. (EAADA) Membership and/or Junior (Jr) Rider Discounts applied to your entry, you will need to select these discounts during the entry process. Please read the Fee Options carefully so you can select the applicable discounts.

 

EXHIBITOR NUMBERS

Riders are responsible for providing their own rider/bridle numbers. 

 

MAXIMUM TESTS

The following limits are the number of tests allowed to be entered in the show:

  1. For classes at
    1. EC Introductory, Training, First, Second levels,
    2. EC and FEI Eventing CCI 2* and below Dressage,
    3. WDAA Western Dressage Intro to level 3,
    4. FEI Para Dressage Grade I and II tests 
    5. Cdn Pony Club dressage

A rider/horse combination may compete in any 2, but only 2, consecutive levels/divisions and may compete up to a maximum of 3 tests per day including the freestyle.

  1. For classes at
    1. EC Third, Fourth
    2. FEI Eventing CCI 3*and above
    3. WDAA Western Dressage level 4 and above,
    4. FEI Para Dressage Grade III, IV, V
    5. Prix Caprilli tests

A rider/horse combination may compete in any 2, but only 2, consecutive levels/divisions and up to a maximum of 2 tests per day including the freestyle.

  1. For classes at the FEI Young Rider, FEI Prix St. George, FEI Intermediate I, FEI Intermediate II, FEI Intermediate A, FEI Intermediate B, FEI Grand Prix U25, FEI Grand Prix levels

A rider/horse combination may compete in a maximum of 1 test per day including the freestyle. In-hand classes are exempt from this rule. Exception: Rider/horse combinations competing in the FEI Young Rider division may compete in an FEI Young Rider Freestyle test in addition to one FEI Young Rider technical test per day.

 

When more than one athlete competes on the same horse, the horse may not compete against itself and may not compete in more tests as stated in a. through c. above.

 

HOOFIN' IT FUN CLASS

This Two-Part Fun class is sponsored by area farriers and is open to both Wild Rose and EC Gold Show entries. This is a very fun time for all involved!

Part 1 - Ridden: Entrants will pick 4 movements from a list and perform them on horseback.

Part 2 - Running: Entrants will pic 4 movements from a list and perform them on their own two feet!!

 

Pair up with a fellow competitor OR do both parts on your own! Both competitors must be entered in the Sparkles and Spurs Show.

You may need one or more waivers, depending on what classes you have entered.

 

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations prior to the August 3, 2026 closing date, entrants will have all fees, less the
Administration and Compete Easy Processing fee, refunded. Cancellations after August 3 and to prior
August 12 will forfeit all fees unless a veterinary certificate is provided then the class fees, EC Levy, EC
Drug Fee and ADA Levy will be refunded. After August 11th no fees will be refunded.

 

 

FAILURE TO ENTER OR SUBMIT THE REQUIRED INFORMATION MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL FEES and/or YOU MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SHOW.
