Wits End 2023 Hallowe’en Extravaganza

We are excited to announce the details of our most popular show of the year.  The weekend will offer something for our intrepid eventers and also those who prefer not to jump.  As always, the whole point of all of this is to have some fun. So bring dig out those costumes and bring your ponies and your peeps and join us on October 21 and 22.

Eventing Kindergarten Schooling & Hallowe’en On The Flat

Classes:  EK Schooling (SJ & XC), Hallowe’en on the Flat (Dressage, Costume Class, Hallowe’en Surprise), Lead Line Costume Class, Scavenger Hunt

Medic Fee and Processing Fee:  A $15.00 medic fee and 10% Processing Fee will be added to each rider’s entry.  

1. EK Schooling ($70.00 + HST) 

• Bring your coaches and your friends and school our spooky show jumping and cross country courses for the EK IV finale show on Sunday.  You don’t have to be entered on the show on Sunday to come for schooling.  Limit of 40 riders total. 

2. Hallowe’en on the Flat Option 1 ($100.00 + HST) - Dressage + Games

• Choose two dressage tests:  1 from Cadora and 1 from our EK 2022 tests. Ride them in costume or not. Your choice. Ribbons for Test 1 and Test 2 to 8^th.  Decided by percentage so you may be in the same class as somoene doing a completely different level of test.  
• Before or after Dressage is complete, riders can participate in a costume class (not mandatory).  Ribbons and Prizes for the costume class. Placing does not count towards your overall score. 

• Riders will then participate in the Hallowe’en Games which will be a series of activities on a set course including pumpkin weaving, trotting while carrying a container of water (or maybe some zombie slime, we haven’t quite decided which), mini-pumpkin tossing from horseback, and maybe a few more ghoulish delights we haven’t thought up yet. You will get points for each of the activities you complete successfully.  Ribbons to 8^th for the games.  

• Reserve and Champion determined by adding your games score to your average dressage percentage. 

3. Hallowe’en on the Flat Option 2 ($100.00 + HST) - Dressage + Group Dressage

• Choose two dressage tests:  1 from Cadora and 1 from our EK 2022 tests. Ride them in costume or not. Your choice. Ribbons for Test 1 and Test 2 to 8^th.  Decided by percentage so you may be in the same class as someone doing a completely different level of test.

• Riders will then perform a pas de deux or pas de trois, or as many friends as you can fit in the ring.  Multiple riders perform a pattern (think musical ride) designed by the riders.  5 minutes maximum. It can be walk trot or all three paces.  There must be at least one halt on the centre line facing the judge.  You can set it to music if you want, but you have to bring your own music system. Riders will be judged on the quality of the paces, synchronicity, and creativity.  Ribbons to 8^th.

• Reserve and Champion determined by adding your Group Ride score to your individual average dressage percentage.
   

4. Leadline ($25.00 + HST) 

• Bring your new riders in costume.  Riders will be assigned challenges suitable for their ability.  Be prepared to show the judge a trick.   $25 + HST. Everyone wins! 

5. Scavenger Hunt – ($45.00 per team + HST)

• Teams of up to 5 on foot or on horseback or a combination of both.  One person per team will enter. You will follow clues and generally just run around looking for things.  Each team will have 45 minutes to find as many items as you can.  The team that finds the most wins!  Prizes for everyone! 

6. A La Carte – Don’t want to commit to a full day?  You can sign up for just one or two.  Medic fee only has to be paid once per rider.  
   1. Costume Class - $10 + HST 
   2. Dressage Tests - $40 + HST 
   3. Group Dressage - $20.00 + HST per rider. 
   4. Hallowe’en Games - $40 + HST

Eventing Kindergarten with PUMPKIN JUMPING!!!

Classes:  Eventing Kindergarten with Pumpkin Jumping and Integrated Costume Class, Scavenger Hunt

Medic Fee and Processing Fee:  A $15.00 medic fee and 10% Processing Fee will be added to each rider’s entry.  

1. Our Eventing Kindergarten Finale ($200.00) 

• Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country.  Tadpole to Pre-Training (60cm, 78cm, 85cm and 90cm).  EV 2022 Dressage Tests. Plus, Pumpkin Jumping before Show Jumping.  ($200 + HST) (80 entries maximum).

• **Costumes will be judged during the dressage phase rather than as a separate class or photo booth.  Any props can be discarded before you trot down the centre line – plan your costume accordingly. 

2. Scavenger Hunt – ($45.00 per Team + HST)
