Oakhurst Jump Cross 2021

Oakhurst Jump Cross is a fun and exciting equestrian competition that incorporates both knock down stadium jumps and natural cross-country obstacles over varied terrain (sand rings, grass fields, etc.) and is judged as “Match the Clock”.  A Match the Clock or Optimum Time class is designed to help developing riders learn the skill of riding a course at the posted speed, rather than with the fastest time. Banks and water complexes may be incorporated into a track that will better prepare the competitor for full 3-phased horse trials.  This competition is intended for equestrians wanting to try this type of equestrian sport in a low stress environment, and for more experienced partnerships to try an upgrade.

Rules

Riders must wear an approved helmet and protective vest, with appropriate cross-country tack and attire. Competitors may enter more than one level. No coaching during competition, but coaching is highly encouraged in the course walks and warm up phases.  There will be a start signal with a large and inviting start box similar to a Cross Country start.

Penalties

• Knock Down – 4 points (same as eventing stadium)
• Refusal – 10 points (circle between fences will count as a refusal)
• Combinations numbered "A, B" will be as per Stadium Rules, i.e., if "B" is refused, "A" must be re-jumped on second presentation.
• Time Penalties – Cross Country time fault of 0.4/second will be added to penalty score, for both over and under the Optimum time.
• Reasons for Elimination

  • 4 Refusals on Whole Course
  • Fall of Competitor or Horse
  • Skipping or missing a fence
  • Leaving course
  • Exceeding time limit – Elimination (double optimum time)
  • Not going through start or finish flags
  • Unauthorized assistance

Scoring

Penalties in jumping are added to the time penalties to determine placing for each division. Closest to optimum time and lowest penalties wins. Ties are broken by being closest to optimum time without going over. If equal, then by lowest jump penalties.

• Starters at 2-minute intervals, breaks to reset between divisions
• Ribbons to 8^th in each division
• Time starts/ends when horse and rider go through the start/finish flags.

Entry Policies

• Entries must be received by closing date to ensure start times can be posted. Entries submitted after closing will pay a $25 late fee, if space is available. Compete Easy does not allow you to submit incomplete entries.
• Refunds before closing less admin fee of $20, Competition cancellation – No refund
• No unauthorized motor vehicles of any kind allowed on course.
• Pinny numbers will be sent by email from the organizer through Compete Easy. Please bring pinny holder.
• Ride times will be posted the FRIDAY before the show at: www.oakhurstevents.ca
• Live scoring for all phases of events in real time and will be sent to entrants via Compete Easy.
• Auto check in at the property gate through Compete Easy app, please have the app downloaded on your device and login to your rider profile.  All attendees must download the free app from the Google Play or Apple App store and create a free rider profile prior to accessing the property to be scanned in.
• Medic on site.
• Vet and Farrier will be on call.
• Refreshments if Covid protocols allow.
